Welcome!

WELCOME!

I started this blog to help myself track my fashion evolution. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from other bloggers out there, and maybe someday I can do the same for someone else.

30 for 30 Picks

It was really hard to pick my 30 items.  I still don't know if I made good decisions since this is my first challenge, but I guess I'll find out soon!  If you haven't heard of the 30 for 30 Challenge, the basic premise is that you pick 30 items of clothing (including shoes) and wear only those for 30 days.  You can use whatever accessories you want.  You also aren't supposed to buy any clothes during the challenge.  The point is to learn to remix your current clothes so you can make do with less.

Shoes:  Black boots (Steve Madden), Plaid flats (Soda), Brown boots (Soda), Black shoes (Mudd), Sneakers (Nike) - I apparently need to find some colorful shoes that are also comfortable!  These all look so boring...

Pants: Brown pants (Express), Black pants (Express), Grey pants (H&M), Skinny jeans (Old Navy)

Denim jacket (Old Navy)

Sweaters:  Purple sweater (Express), Pink cardigan (Old Navy), Cream cardigan (Target), Red vest (Express), Blue sweater (Kohl's)

Shirts:  Robot tee (Threadless), Cream cami (Target), Black tank (Target), Green button-up (Express), Striped tunic (Kohl's)

Shirts:  Pink shirt (Banana Republic), Multi-colored sequin tank (Old Navy), Pink sequin striped tank (Express), White button-up (Express), Black & white print tank (Target)

Striped dress (Kohl's)

Skirts: Denim (Express), Black pencil (eBay), Green ruffled (Old Navy), Tan (Banana Republic) - I've wanted to wear skirts more often, so hopefully this will help.

I made these hangar separators out of red cardstock to keep track of what is in my 30. (Pardon the messy closet.)

I think one of the harder challenges is going to be posting on my blog every day.  I'm used to blogging a little behind, and usually schedule a week at a time on the weekends.

Well, it starts tomorrow.  Wish me luck!

Feeling Purple

A purple flower pin on a purple sweater over a purple striped button-up equals lots of purple.  The collar on this shirt insisted on being wide instead of standing up the way I wanted it to. I'm not terribly fond of this belt but it's the only skinny belt I have.  I need to get a couple more for my closet, but at this point it will probably have to wait until I find something at a thrift store, sometime after the 30 for 30 challenge is over.  Guess I will try to put it out of my mind.

Stealing Hubby's Clothes

I've seen quite a few outfits pairing a big loose shirt with skinny jeans and I liked the look, but something didn't quite turn out for me.  I look very wide in the photo, though it didn't feel that way in person.  Hey, at least I was comfy.  I will have to play with the proportions a bit before I try again.

Feeling Green

Today's outfit was apparently inspired by St. Patrick's day, which is when I should have worn it.  Oh well, I'm sure I can do something similar if I want.  I just had a lot of green showing in my closet when I went to get dressed for the day, so I piled it all on.  I took a work picture and a home picture because my green shoes are not very work-appropriate.

More Sparkle

Another gift from MIL today - this tank top has multicolored sequins in a random pattern.  The colors are much more noticeable in person, I promise.

Wild at Work

I wasn't sure about the new coworkers reaction to my leopard print, but nobody said anything.  Guess that means I can still get crazier!  I wasn't sure about the navy tights, but they worked better than anything else in my drawer so I went with it.

I got these boots from my MIL for Christmas.  I love them!  They are just what my wardrobe needed, plus comfy to wear.  The only thing I don't like is that the buckles on bottom are loose, so they clink every time I walk.  It almost sounds like I am wearing spurs.  I will have to brainstorm a solution to that.  The earrings are also new from MIL for Christmas: long dangly black feathers. Fun!

Sequin Stripes

I got this shirt for only $2 after using my birthday money from Express.  It's a nice loose tank that I thought would be nice and comfy, plus it's striped with sequins!  How could I say no?

Blog Interrupted... and Challenge Accepted

I'm back on track now!  I had a lot of personal stuff going on the last few weeks, but things have finally settled back into their normal routine.

I found the blog Kendi Everyday just as she was starting the last 30 for 30 challenge.  (The basics?  Choose 30 items of clothing, including shoes but not accessories, and wear only those for 30 days.  Also, no buying any new clothes during the challenge.)  I followed her and many of the participants throughout their 30 days.  I thought it sounded like a pretty tough but fun challenge, though I wasn't sure I could do it.

Then the other day I popped by her site and saw that she was doing it again!  I signed up on the spot before I could talk myself out of it.  I spend a good portion of the day today deciding what to put on my list.  I have the list done, with a few days to spare so I can mull it over and change my mind on a few things if I want to.  I will take a photo of all my choices once they are final (and out of the laundry).

I know a lot of participants have a hard time with the "no buying" portion of the challenge.  We are pretty short on funds at my house these days, so I wouldn't have that option anyway.  It might make things easier to bare with TWO reasons not to shop. Plus, my closet is too full anyway.  I need to work on my remixing what I have, and this should do the trick!  Join me if you think you are up to it.  I would love to see what you've got!

A Dress?

I got lots of compliments on today's outfit again.  Several people thought that it was a dress.  I guess if it looks like someone professional put it together as a dress, I can consider it a success!

P.S. That's Hobbs hiding behind my legs.

New Driver License Photo

I totally forgot to renew my license until the noon of the very last day.  I hope this outfit doesn't look too awful in my picture five years from now.

Flirty Zebra

I had lots of fun with today's outfit.  Since I was going to work with crazy tights and a pretty tight skirt, I decided on flats instead of heels.  Can't be too sexy...

Pop of Turquoise

I got lots of compliments on my shoes today, and comments about how well they coordinated with my necklace.  Having a little pop of color adds a bit of fun to an otherwise boring outfit.

I've been having a hard time working this lace tank top into my wardrobe.  I've been considering cutting it up the middle of the front and turning it into a vest.  I guess we'll see if I can make it work.

Warm Colors

This tank top is actually quite orange in person.  I really like pink and orange together.  I've wanted to use them together in my house as an accent to green, so maybe I should incorporate green into my outfit next time.  I need more major items of clothing in colors instead of neutrals so I can play around with color more often.
