Welcome!

WELCOME!

I started this blog to help myself track my fashion evolution. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from other bloggers out there, and maybe someday I can do the same for someone else.

EBEW - Pattern Mixing Challenge

After I had already gotten dressed for the day I realized that it was the day for the Everybody, Everywear monthly challenge.  This month the theme was pattern mixing, and I just so happened to wear a very mixed pattern outfit, so I thought I'd better participate.

Black and White and Red All Over

Maybe not all over... just a punch of red at my feet.  This skirt is another recent thrift find - it still had new tags on it and only cost $6!  It's a teensy bight tight at the waist and I couldn't get the zipper up the last 1/2 inch, so a threw a belt on top and boom!  Problem solved.

To Alter or Not?

I bought this lace vest on clearance last summer because I had been looking to add to the lace pieces in my closet.  It is a tank top, and the arm holes are cut a little funny - they are a lot bigger than usual.  I've contemplated cutting the tank up the middle and hemming it to be a vest, but I thought I would wear it as-is a couple of times first.  I still haven't made up my mind...

Spring Flowers

Last fall I actually remembered to plant spring bulbs.  It's the first time I have remembered to do that in the seven years we've lived here.  I was so excited when my daffodils finally showed their faces!

I liked the pop of bright turquoise in this otherwise neutral outfit, but the rolled sleeves were a bit obnoxious.  I think this was not the best shirt to try it with.

Black and White All Over

I decided to get at least one more wearing of my houndstooth vest before it got too hot to layer with sweaters.  I wish I could have worn heels with this outfit because I think they would have worked much better, but I went for a run the night before (not one of my usual activities) and my legs could barely handle walking around in flats.  Guess I should work on that.

Day 25

Simple, easy black and white today.  And stumpy legs, apparently.  Hubby took this picture at an odd angle, and it shows.   Oh, well.

Doing this every day without fail is really wearing on me.  I'm running out of things to say.  Though today I will mention that I am very glad the weekend is here.  It has not been a great week for me, and a lot of other people I know and work with.  Next week will be better!

Day 14

I saved my pencil skirt for Valentine's Day because it is quite tight.  Any maybe a wee bit too short for work, especially without tights.  But I wore it anyway.  I only saw one other person (besides hubby) all day.  I'll play it a bit safer next time.

On another note, I've been letting my hair just air dry without any product or anything.  I think it actually looks decent, and it's much better on my hair than drying it every time.  I might have to take a straight iron to my bangs though.  This way they sit right on my forehead and get greasy much faster.

Sorry the grass swallowed my feet again...

Day 8

Boy, it was WINDY today!  Of all the ways weather can make you miserable, wind is the worst.  Nothing terribly exciting today, but I like the way sequins add a bit of sparkle to an otherwise plain old outfit.

This is only the second or third time I've worn this shirt and it just realized today how horribly it was cut.  It was totally not cut straight with the grain of the cloth so the neckline on one side keeps dropping further than the other side.  I don't know how long I will be able to wear it before it drives me nuts.  That makes me sad because I like it a lot. :(  I'm going to have to learn to check these things BEFORE I leave the store.

Day 2

I was really happy with today's outfit.  It was super fun, even if it was crazy to wear a skirt in -1 degree weather.  That's just how I roll!

New Driver License Photo

I totally forgot to renew my license until the noon of the very last day.  I hope this outfit doesn't look too awful in my picture five years from now.

Wide Pattern

I really liked the pattern on this vest when I bought it, but I hated the way it looked every time I tried to wear it because it made my torso look extra-wide.  Then I read about something similar on Fashion For Nerds.  She fixed the problem by wearing a cardigan over top, so that it creates vertical lines.  I tried it, and voila!  I call it a success.

Layers

This is the first time I have layered quite like this.  It is a sleeveless mock turtleneck under a v-neck sweater.  It actually worked out nicely I think!  I ended up changing shoes after I took this picture.  It was a bit too cold for exposed toes, but I wish I could have worn them.  They are purple snakeskin and I love them!
