Welcome!

WELCOME!

I started this blog to help myself track my fashion evolution. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from other bloggers out there, and maybe someday I can do the same for someone else.

Found!

I just found a bunch of old photos on my SD card.  I think they are from January, so I'm just going to post them all now so they don't drag out into spring clothing territory.

Ride the Dragon

This post title won't make any sense until you scroll down.  One of my neighbors has this cheesy dragon statue in their yard (or maybe it's the Loch Ness monster?  I don't know...)  I've been contemplating getting a photo with it for a while and finally worked up the nerve to do it.  I got some mighty strange looks from people driving by...

Onto the clothes! I liked the combination of the bright colors and different patterns I had going on today.  Any time I mix patterns I have to have something plain in between.  Maybe one of these days I'll graduate to pattern on pattern, but I'm taking baby steps here.

All that Glitters is Gold...

Sequins and sparkles always make a girl have fun, don't they?  This tank is another find on the Target clearance rack.  I really love that store sometimes!  I haven't worn this jacket in ages but the glittery gold thread went with the tank too perfectly to pass up.

No More Snow Please!

Hopefully this will be the last time this year I post pictures from when it is actually snowing.  Brr...  I've had this dress for months now but this is the first time I've worn it.  I wasn't quite sure how to style it for work, and I haven't been to any LBD requiring events.  I found this dress at Target.  It was an online only item that had been returned to the store so it was on clearance for $2.50!

I really liked the way the outfit turned out, especially the tights, but I wish I had a slightly different cardi to wear.  I'm not sure what exactly I was after though...

Blues

Today you get a lovely view of my filthy back porch.  Sorry!  I like the pop of turquoise with my accessories.  The outfit would have been quite dull without them.  This shirt is really comfortable to wear, but hard to style creatively.  I'm sure I will come up with something crazier if I think hard enough.

Dirt

That is what my backyard is currently full of.  It's kind of a pain, but I braved it to get a picture of today's outfit.  I based it around my scarf, which is new-to-me from eBay and cost $2.99.  Score!  It's my first square scarf, which I am looking to get more of.  It is very gauzy, light and floaty and has a black/red/yellow pattern on it.

Pink & Ruffley

One thing I've noticed when I get compliments on my outfits from people that I work with is that it's usually followed by, "But you can get away with it because you're still young.  I would look ridiculous."  I hope I can always keep having fun with my clothes no matter how old I get.  Otherwise, getting dressed gets boring.  That's why I started this blog to begin with!  I know it can be done because many of my blogger inspirations are as old as the people giving me those types of comments, and they still look fun and fabulous!

Romantic

I bought this lace top online several months ago, and it looks much more peachy than in did in the pictures.  That wasn't really a killer, but it is much harder to find colors it goes with that plain old nude would have been.  This is my favorite way I have worn it so far.  The shirts just seem perfect together.  I just wish I had a floaty white skirt to go with it.  And some nude heels (or sandals if it was warmer) would help too.  Guess I have some things to add to my thrift store list.

These horses belong to our backyard neighbors.  They always run over to say hello when we are in the park next door in hopes that we will reach the yummy long green grass for them.  I'll have to remember to take some carrots over next time.

Black and White All Over

I decided to get at least one more wearing of my houndstooth vest before it got too hot to layer with sweaters.  I wish I could have worn heels with this outfit because I think they would have worked much better, but I went for a run the night before (not one of my usual activities) and my legs could barely handle walking around in flats.  Guess I should work on that.

Red Makes Everything Better

Red is one of my very favorite colors, but I have recently realized that I own almost no red clothes.  My red is mostly accessories, and in this case, outerwear.  I need to get that fixed pronto, but in the meantime I'm glad it's still cool enough to wear a jacket.

This is a skirt that used to be a dress.  I really loved it as a dress, but the trim was so scratchy that it made my skin hurt after an hour, and it was so integrated into the top that to redo it would be like starting from scratch.  I decided to just chop it off and be done with it.  Luckily it is a nice stretchy jersey and I haven't even had to hem the top yet.

Bright & Fancy

I had a meeting with a client that seems to be impressed by fancy clothes, so I wore my fancy jacket.  You can't really tell from this photo, but it has metallic silver threads throughout. It also has a single epaulette made of chains that also include a couple of sparkly chains.  I couldn't let the outfit get too boring though, so I had to throw in some color.  I think my shoes were more appreciated than anything else!
